Chiefs Esports Club: A Legacy in League of Legends
Chiefs Esports Club, often referred to as "The Chiefs," is a renowned Australian esports organization with a storied history in League of Legends. Established in August 2014, the team has been a cornerstone of the Oceanic esports scene, consistently showcasing exceptional talent and achieving significant milestones.
Early Years and Rise to Prominence
In its inaugural year, Chiefs Esports Club, originally known as Exodus Gaming, quickly rebranded and assembled a formidable roster featuring players like Swip3rR, Spookz, Swiffer, Raydere, and Rosey. Their synergy led to impressive performances in the Logitech CGPL Season 2 Winter tournament, securing a spot in the Oceania regional tournament. Although they narrowly missed advancing to the finals, their potential was evident.
The following year marked their dominance in the Oceanic Pro League (OPL), where they achieved a remarkable 13-1 record in the regular season. Their journey culminated in a decisive 3-0 victory over Dire Wolves in the finals, earning them a spot at the 2015 International Wildcard Invitational in Turkey. Despite a commendable 3-3 record, they fell short of playoff contention.
Continued Success and International Ventures
Throughout 2016, Chiefs Esports Club maintained its competitive edge, securing a second-place finish in the first OPL split. They clinched their third consecutive Oceania title by overcoming Legacy Esports 3-2 in the finals. Internationally, they participated in the International Wildcard Invitational but narrowly missed advancing to the playoffs with a 3-4 record.
Transition to the League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO)
With the dissolution of the OPL in 2020, Chiefs Esports Club transitioned to the League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO). The team faced challenges with roster changes but remained a formidable presence in the league. In 2022, they secured the LCO Split 2 title, earning a spot at the 2022 World Championship. Although they faced tough competition and finished last in their play-in group, their qualification underscored their regional dominance.
Acquisition by Team Bliss and Participation in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP)
In September 2023, Team Bliss Esports acquired Chiefs Esports Club, aiming to combine resources and elevate Oceanic esports. This merger led to the team competing under the Team Bliss banner in 2024. In November 2024, Chiefs Esports Club was announced as a guest team in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) for the 2025 season, marking a new chapter in their international journey.
